Outline
Sladen Moses is co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Lexin Solutions, an enterprise software company that transforms indirect material supply chains and spare parts management across heavy asset-intensive sectors, including mining, bulk chemicals, oil and gas, and heavy manufacturing.
Alongside co-founders Tim McLain, Justin Lester, and Derek List, Sladen set out to solve a multi-billion-dollar operational blind spot that cripples industrial productivity worldwide. In heavy-asset environments, operations rely on continuous production. When an essential machine breaks down, and an uncatalogued or missing spare part cannot be located, unplanned downtime can cost operators anywhere from tens of thousands to hundreds of millions of dollars per hour in lost output. Beyond preventing astronomical financial losses, Lexin Solutions was built to protect front-line personnel, prevent environmental hazards, maintain production continuity, and defend corporate reputations.

The indirect materials market is an extraordinary commercial landscape, projected to exceed $1 trillion globally by 2032. Despite its sheer scale, the sector remains highly fragmented, with no single software vendor controlling even 10% of the domain.
Lexin Solutions originated four and a half years ago in what the founders affectionately call "Tim's treehouse". The business began as a bespoke consultancy, where client recommendations were supported by an internal toolkit cobbled together from Excel spreadsheets, Power BI models, data scripts, macros, and, as Sladen candidly describes it, "hopes, dreams, and duct tape".
Recognising that spreadsheets could never scale into resilient enterprise infrastructure, the founders invested in developing a low-code platform before taking the definitive leap on 1 January 2025 to launch MiLi, a full-stack enterprise SaaS solution powered by agentic artificial intelligence. Engineered "for industry, by industry", MiLi was built directly through the lens of seasoned operational leaders who had spent decades managing maintenance and supply chains without adequate IT budgets.
The Strategic Hurdle: Breaking the Enterprise Trust Barrier
Despite achieving formal SAP listing, maintaining exceptional customer retention, and delivering proven software, Lexin Solutions faced the universal dilemma of an agile tech disruptor operating in a sea of massive competitors. Heavy industry is notoriously conservative, guarded, and risk-averse. Multi-billion-dollar mining conglomerates, global chemical producers, and industrial manufacturers fiercely protect their operations and are inherently reluctant to expose sensitive internal systems, maintenance histories, and proprietary supply chain records to an outside startup.
To convince enterprise executives to open their digital gates, grant system access, and let Lexin run deep diagnostic pilots on their operations, the company needed an unquestionable badge of credibility and trust. Word-of-mouth and standard sales pitches no longer sufficed against entrenched legacy software giants. With more than 50% of company revenue originating from North America and the business preparing to close a critical Series A capital raise, Sladen needed an authoritative global profile. International venture capitalists and overseas enterprise procurement panels needed independent, third-party validation that this Australian-founded platform was an established, premier market leader.
Internally, executing a world-class awards and positioning campaign was impossible without diverting critical software engineering and customer delivery resources. Compiling pages of technical documentation, compliance metrics, and commercial evidence, and translating complex software architecture into persuasive narratives tailored for judging panels, required a dedicated, year-round operation that a scaling startup could not sustain alone.
Outcome
To establish market authority and build global credibility, Lexin Solutions partnered with The Audacious Agency in January 2026 to spearhead a sustained, premier awards campaign. By entrusting specialists with the research, positioning, and submission strategy, Lexin maintained full operational focus on software engineering and customer delivery, avoiding the need to build an internal team to produce up to 600 pages of technical documentation.

The awards campaign delivered extraordinary commercial and competitive results. Of 11 rigorous industry award programmes entered, only one submission failed to advance to the finalist stage. Across almost every programme, Lexin Solutions was shortlisted as a finalist and won multiple categories, achieving an exceptional 97% success rate. Competing directly against multi-billion-dollar Fortune 500 incumbents, the agile startup proved its platform's superior strength, innovation, and reliability on national and international stages.
The business impact extended far beyond physical trophies, becoming an integral engine of Lexin's broader brand strategy. Third-party recognition opened doors to earned media coverage in leading industry publications and invitations to keynote podcast interviews. This visibility produced a powerful, unexpected commercial outcome: existing clients and supply chain partners reached out after reading the coverage, noting that the media features had introduced them to advanced platform capabilities and solutions they had not previously used.
Crucially, this elevated standing directly propelled Lexin's global expansion and capital raising efforts. As Sladen steered the company through the final stages of closing its Series A round, the external validation established immediate credibility with international investors. Instead of proving legitimacy from scratch in pitch meetings, venture capitalists across North America already knew Lexin's brand and award-winning pedigree, significantly de-risking negotiations and accelerating its transition from a bootstrapped startup to a venture-backed enterprise leader.
"It's not just the awards - applying for them is one step, but The Audacious Agency helped ensure our messaging got across with content and media, so when speaking to investors, they've already heard of us."
Results
From the client
"The amount of work that actually goes into submitting an award is incredible. I had absolutely no idea. And it has to do with effort and time, but also understanding how to properly articulate the value of your business to a panel of judges as opposed to a panel of customers or a panel of investors. It's the same message, but it needs to be tweaked for your audience. Audacious has been absolutely incredible in that whole process because for a startup like ours, you would need a dedicated team to be doing this all year long. Because it's a lot about reaping what you sow... you essentially want to engage over a six- to twelve-month program so that you see the benefits of that engagement afterwards."
"It's also been quite a humbling process where we're going up against Fortune 500 companies that are also playing in our industry and our domain, and we're still winning these awards or coming close. So it's really helped us as a company with validation in the market and that benchmarking perspective. And it's not just the awards that Audacious has helped us with - applying for an award is one step, but Audacious has helped us ensure our marketing and messaging around that award were also put together, getting us earned media spots with industry magazines and podcast interviews. We've actually had a lot of feedback from customers and partners that have said to us, 'Hey, look, we've actually learned something new about what Lexin does or the industries that you service.' It really is a knowledge campaign as well on its own."
"More than 50% of our revenue comes from North America, so we are targeting the North American market as our primary market, and the awareness that we've been driving in that region has been incredible. The awards have certainly helped us in the sense that even speaking to investors, they've heard of us prior to me having to go and do the pitch. It's been very rewarding."
“Too often, as leaders and as founders, we get stuck in the problems we're fixing now and the issues we're trying to address, when we don't really take stock quite often and breathe and say, 'We've done really well getting to this point.' Enjoying the journey is just as important as getting to the destination. Make strong partnerships right at the start, as we have with The Audacious Agency, because if you make a strong partnership at the start, you have someone that is growing with you and your business, and someone that can enjoy that journey alongside you."
